Duende

Lorca writes: "The duende, then, is a power, not a work. It is a struggle, not a thought...in sum, the spirit of the earth.
I have heard an old maestro of the guitar say, 'The duende is not in the throat; the duende climbs up inside you, from the soles of the feet.

Duende is a sense, an atmosphere a quintessential part - the spirit -a flame, flamingo, the absolute essence of what makes Spain Spanish. In Spanish ' Duende' is a word larger and far more powerful than the human who speaks it.
